Entering her second year as the District Supervisor of Calauan, Dr. Florentina C. Rancap divuldged herself to the world of marathon, a now popular sports in the Philippines. With slow but surely strides, charming smile, and strong spirit, she becomes an advertisement for the sports, encouraging numerous to try and embrace marathon. Mam Flor, as many called her, is a diabetic patient. This disease ignited her passion for running. Started last 2013, she worked her running distances. She began striding the 3k (three kilometers) with her husband as her running buddy. She very well knew the positive effect of the sports. Our running schedule is every Saturday, Sunday, and Holiday. It became part of our routine not only because it will be of great help with the improvement of my health, but also for the LOVE OF THE SPORT,” Dr. Rancap said when asked about how she started running. She joined many local fun runs such as organized by Run Rio and Run Mania. Some of her memorable runs were 6 Hours + 3k Endurance Run, Run for Kabihug Tribe and The First Tagaytay to Kawit Ultra Marathon (Ultra marathon means 50 kilometers or more). When asked about her biggest challenge, and what does she do to manage this challenge here is her reply: “The biggest challenge I am facing now is my health condition – being a diabetic patient. But it cannot stop me from staying positive because I know God can heal me. And also through the natural and synthetic medication I found and I loved and still loving: RUNNING. Another challenge is time management because being a District Supervisor requires a lot from me. So, I promised to give quality time for Inay and Itay.” “As a piece of advice to my dear students of Calauan, a champion in any field do so much more than winning. To become a champion, you must have the natural ability, train hard, discipline yourself and you must carry the right attitude/values. Win pleasingly and lose diplomatically. Make every winning an inspiration to strive far better of what you did, if you lose, learn from it and motivate yourself to strive harder. Life is a continuous learning process. A devastating experience will teach us the best lesson in life,” she stated "Set your goal in life. You must decide who you will become. Do your best to become who you want to be. You cannot finish the race in life, you will never become a champion if you will not exert your utmost effort. Entrust everything to God. Do your best part and ask God’s intervention. Plea for His blessings for you to become one for God knows the best for you,” she added. Mam Flor is really a champion on her own. Facing squarely her battles in life, a battle against her own limitation but she still believe that she can make a difference through the help of an Almighty God. “I WILL NEVER STOP RUNNING. I WILL CONTINUE TO BELIEVE,” Mam Flor emphasized.
